Over the years, the company has grown exponentially and expanded its production line. It includes Class A, B, and C motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, toy haulers, pop-up tent campers, and truck campers.
Additionally, the company manufactures park model trailers, destination trailers, cargo trailers, commercial vehicles, buses, pontoons, and mobile restroom trailers.

Forest River, owned by Berkshire Hathaway, has become one of the leading manufacturers of RVs in the world. In the recreational vehicle division, Forest River RV owns the Coachmen, Dynamax, Palomino, Prime Time, Shasta, and East to West brands.

About the XLR Toy Haulers

XLR Boost and Micro Boost
The XLR Boost features a 102” wide body, and the XLR Micro Boost features a 96” wide body. You have four travel trailer floorplans and five fifth wheel ones among the Boost line.
You also get three XLR Micro Boost travel trailer floorplans and two Micro Boost fifth wheel ones. They all offer rear garage spaces at varying lengths.
The 25LRLE, 301LRLE, and 27QB models don’t have any slides, while the others do open for increased living space. The 21QBS is the shortest model at 26’11” while the 36TSX16 is the longest model at 45’2”.
All of the units feature an 87-gallon freshwater tank and a designated sleeping space in the front. However, the 29LRLE features a murphy bed. They all feature a full bathroom and kitchen with specific features depending on the model.
Because of the toy hauler design, you’ll also find the cargo carrying capacity much higher than a standard travel trailer or fifth wheel. The 27LRLE has the smallest CCC at 1,772 lbs, while the 37TSX13 has the largest at a whopping 5,743 lbs.
XLR Hyperlite
This XLR toy hauler received “Best of Show” by RV Pro in 2020 and “Travel Trailer Toy Hauler of the Year” in 2021 by RV News. The XLR Hyperlite is a lightweight line that features Dexter axles, a fully enclosed underbelly, and 5,000 lb cargo tie-downs.
It also has five floorplans. They range from 29’10” to 38’8” long and have cargo carrying capacities between 1,782 lbs to 3,612 lbs. The dry weight of the units all stay under 10,000 lbs except for the 3412 model.
Additionally, they feature a 102-gallon fresh water tank, 60-gallon gray water tank, and 30-gallon black water tank. However, the 2815 model has a higher capacity in the gray and black tanks.
All five floorplans have slide-outs to increase the living space and a rear garage. The front bedroom features a queen bed with wardrobe storage.
The bathroom sits next to the bedroom in all models except the 3212 where it lies in between the garage and kitchen. The 3412 model features a side patio in addition to the rear patio.
XLR Nitro
The XLR Nitro fifth wheel toy haulers feature the highest carrying capacities of all XLR toy hauler units. You can even haul a small car in some of these garages.
The 407 model has an astounding 6,306 lbs of CCC and measures 45’2” long and 102” wide. The smallest of the XLR Nitros is the 28DK5, and it still has 5,661 lbs of CCC within its 35” frame.
The six available floorplans feature numerous slide-outs and large living spaces. The 405 and 407 models move the bedroom in the unit’s center with a door leading into the 11 ft garage space.
The XLR Nitro 405 received the “Best of Show” reward in 2019 by RV News and the “Top RV Debut” in 2020 by RV Business. It features two sofas, reclining theater seating, residential appliances, and an entertainment center with a fireplace.
The 321, 351, and 35DKS all have a peninsula or island in the kitchen and a corner entertainment center with a fireplace. It has a half bath behind the entertainment center with access from the garage.
They also have a long sofa underneath camp-side windows on the passenger’s side of the unit.
How Much Does An XLR Camper Cost?
The XLR Micro Boost models will be the cheapest of the XLR toy hauler line at around $30,000 to $35,000. The XLR Nitro fifth wheels cost the most, with some models starting at over $130,000.
The price will increase depending on the options and upgrades added to the model. But you’ll have a wide range of pricing when comparing the XLR toy hauler models because of the variety of sizes, weights, and amenities.

Is XLR a Good Toy Hauler?
Forest River is a well-known brand in the RV industry that has been in business for decades. Even though they produce a lot of RVs, consumers can rest assured that each unit goes through quality inspections before reaching a dealership.
However, you may find that the level of craftsmanship and quality differs among the XLR toy haulers. Because of the lower price, the XLR Micro Boost won’t have the high-quality residential finishes that you’ll find in the XLR Nitro. But all of the models work great depending on your camping needs.
