Winnebago Industries is one of the most recognized names in the RV industry. The company has been around since 1958 and owns other brands like Grand Design RV and Newmar in addition to its Winnebago line. One of the top-selling camper vans is the Winnebago Travato.

What Is the Winnebago Travato?
The Winnebago Travato is a Class B camper van designed for year-round camping. Features include roof and sidewall insulation, heated tanks, available dual-pane acrylic insulated windows, and the Eco-Hot water system.
Ample storage under the bed and on the roof means you can bring all your outdoor gear even though the interior space is small compared to other RVs.
There are four floorplans within the Winnebago Travato line, all 21 feet long with an interior height of 6 feet 3 inches. They’re all built on a Ram ProMaster chassis with a 280-horsepower 3.6L V6 gas engine.
What Types of RVs Does Winnebago Make?
Winnebago makes other Class B camper vans. Ten lines include the Solis, Solis Pocket, Solis NPF, Revel, Roam, Roam Open Concept, Boldt, Era, Travato, and Winnebago + Adventure Wagon. Winnebago also manufactures Class A and Class C motorhomes.
There are eight Class As and seven Class Cs. The Inspire Class A motorhome and Roam Class C motorhome are accessibility enhanced, so anyone who wants to travel can hit the road. Winnebago also makes six travel trailers.
What Makes the Winnebago Travato Unique?
One of the reasons the Winnebago Travato is a top-seller is its efficiency. With the option for dual pane windows and the insulated roof and sidewall, you can keep the cold air out and warm air in during the winter and the hot air out and the cool air in during the summer. With the gas engine, owners can also get 18 to 22 mpg.
In addition to these features, the Winnebago Travato cab includes a crosswind assist, a digital rearview mirror, a push button start, and a collision warning. SuperSprings SumoSprings are installed on both the front and rear axles, making the drive comfortable regardless of terrain.
The Winnebago Travato Class B Floorplans
Although each Winnebago Travato model’s interior differs, they all come standard with swiveling captain’s chairs, LED ceiling lights, tinted windows, below-floor storage, and RAM Tough-Track mounts. All four floorplans have a 24-gallon fuel tank and an 18-gallon freshwater tank.

Features: The Winnebago Travato 59G has a rear corner bed next to the wet bath. The dinette behind the cab has three-point seat belts and a removable table. The kitchen features a flip-up countertop extension, a two-burner range, Corian countertops, a two-door 6-cubic-foot 12-volt refrigerator/freezer, and a stainless steel sink.
The 59G has a Truma Combi Eco Plus heating system and a Coleman-Mach 10 NDQ air conditioner. The black tank has an 11-gallon capacity, and the gray tank has a 14-gallon capacity. The Winnebago Travato 59G has two deep-cycle batteries, a 1,000-watt inverter, and a Cummins Onan QG 2800i gas generator.

59GL

Features: The Winnebago Travato 59GL is the same size with the same tank capacities and features as the Travato 59G. The only significant difference in the layout is the range is only one burner. However, some owners choose the 59GL over the 59G because of the Pure3 Energy Management System.
The Winnebago Travato 59GL has a three-module lithium-ion energy pack, a 3,200-watt inverter, a Bluetooth control module, an energy pack heating system, and a second dedicated alternator powered by the chassis engine.

59K

Features: The Winnebago Travato 59K features a very different layout from the 59G. This unit has a rear wet bath and wardrobe closet. Sliding doors separate the bathroom from two twin beds.
If there are additional passengers, one of the twin beds comes with seatbelts. Instead of a side countertop extension, the 59K has a pull-out countertop extension in the kitchen.
There’s also a two-burner range, a single-door 4.3-cubic-foot 12-volt refrigerator/freezer, a stainless steel sink, and Corian countertops. The Winnebago Travato 59K has the same air conditioner and water heater system as the 59G.
The black tank is slightly larger than the 59G, with a capacity of 12 gallons, while the gray tank is somewhat smaller, with a capacity of 13 gallons. Like the 59G, the 59K comes with two deep-cycle batteries, a 1,000-watt inverter, and a Cummins Onan QG 2800i gas generator.

Features: Like the Winnebago Travato 59G and 59GL models, the Travato 59K and 59KL models only differ in the range size. The Travato 59KL comes with a single burner rather than a two-burner range.
But like the Travato 59GL, the 59KL comes with the upgraded Pure3 Energy Management System. This is why the Winnebago Travato 59K and 59KL have a significant price difference.

Who’s the Winnebago Travato Good For?
Because of the limited interior space, camper vans are best for solo travelers or couples. But, the storage space in all four Winnebago Travato floorplans allows owners to bring kayaks, fishing poles, skis, mountain bikes, and more outdoor gear to make the most of their camping adventure.
There are better overlanding vans out there, but for outdoor enthusiasts looking to get closer to trailheads or kayak launches, the Winnebago Travato will get them there.

Is Winnebago a Good RV Brand?
Winnebago is one of the most trusted brands in the RV industry. The Winnebago Travato has been a top seller for years among Class B camper vans. If you choose this model, you won’t be disappointed.
On RV Insider, one owner wrote, “I purchased a used Winnebago Travato about a year ago. It has been so much fun to travel in it with my two dogs. The kitchen is compact but enough.
The fridge is fairly large for this size rig and has a separate freezer below it. Storage is always lacking in a camper van, but Winnebago made use of every available space. The priorities for me were the second sleeping space, the shower, and the quality; I am very happy with my choice!”
Another owner commented on the available storage space: “I like the size and handling. Drives like an SUV. I was impressed by the room for cooking. The refrigerator is huge by most RV standards.
