Tiffin is among the most popular and respected names in the RV industry.

They make a variety of motorized RVs in all shapes and sizes and have a reputation for delivering a first-class, luxury experience. While the Tiffin Wayfarer is one of the brand’s smallest offerings, it offers a tremendous amount and doesn’t disappoint buyers.

Today, we’re breaking down the Tiffin Wayfarer lineup to see why it’s one RV you don’t want to overlook. Let’s get started!

About Tiffin Motorhomes

Bob Tiffin spent years working for Tiffin Supply Company, a family-owned and operated business offering everything to build a house. However, he developed an interest in RVing and decided to pursue those interests in 1972 when he started Tiffin Motorhomes.

The first line of motorhomes produced by Tiffin was the Allegro. Instead of using fiberglass and aluminum, Bob upgraded to a heavier steel chassis that was more than capable of withstanding the abuse from the road.

While their competition is cranking RVs out of their manufacturing plants as quickly as possible, Tiffin typically cranks out a dozen or so RVs each day.

Tiffin Motors was a family-owned business for nearly 50 years, but it was acquired by one of the largest names in the RV industry in 2020. Only time will tell whether the new ownership will ramp up production and sacrifice quality.

Who Owns Tiffin Motorhomes Now?

The Tiffin family sold Tiffin Motorhomes to THOR Industries for an astounding $300 million.

When announcing the acquisition, Bob Tiffin stated that while the ownership of the brand is changing, the family’s involvement won’t.

The Tiffin family continues to manage the day-to-day operations of the business and the plants throughout Alabama and Mississippi. Additionally, the brand continues as a stand-alone division under the THOR Industries umbrella.

About the Tiffin Wayfarer

The Tiffin Wayfarer is a Class C motorhome that sits on the Mercedes Benz Sprinter cutaway chassis.

Tiffin packs many of the amenities and capabilities that RVers need, whether they’re weekenders or full-timers. The capabilities and comforts of this motorhome are some of the best on the market.

What many love about the Wayfarer is that it doesn’t just provide comfort, but it’s safe. The driving experience isn’t terribly different from a standard vehicle.

In addition, it provides functions and features many drivers enjoy in their passenger vehicles. Features like lane assist, collision prevention, and adaptive cruise control for a safer and smoother driving experience.

Since the Wayfarer is one of the shortest offerings from Tiffin, it allows it to be one of the most nimble motorhomes the brand offers.

Hoping to boondock in the desert, set up camp in a national park, or spend the weekend at a local state or private campground? The Tiffin Wayfarer can be your home away from home.

Where are Tiffin Wayfarer’s Made?

The Tiffin Wayfarer, like all Tiffin motorhomes, is manufactured in Red Bay, Ala. There are three factory locations throughout the region. Like many RV manufacturers, Tiffin Motorhomes invites the public to tour their facilities and learn about their RVs and how they manufacture them.

The guided tours last approximately an hour and a half, allowing people to get up close and personal with the building process. Guests can interact and chat with those building the rigs and learn about the attention to detail that goes into creating them.

While appointments aren’t typically necessary, it’s a good idea to check Tiffin’s tour website to confirm they’re doing tours.

How Many MPG Does the Tiffin Wayfarer Get?

The Tiffin Wayfarer sits on a Mercedes-Benz 3500 chassis powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine cranking out 188 horsepower while delivering roughly 14 miles per gallon.

However, you can expect this number to decrease the more weight you’re hauling and based on the terrain. Fuel economy can quickly decrease, especially if you’re driving through hilly or mountainous areas.

Is Tiffin a Good Brand of RV?

Tiffin is one of the most respected brands in the RV industry. They make a variety of motorhomes that many consider being top-of-the-line when it comes to their construction and customer service.

While Tiffin RVs come with a premium price tag, you can expect a premium product and an incredible experience.

Many customers that buy Tiffin RVs have no regrets. One customer, Edio, said, “I will forever be a Tiffin customer. In today’s world, it’s not very often with big corporations you run across such great service.”

Which Is Better Winnebago View or Tiffin Wayfarer?

While both are fantastic RVs, the Tiffin Wayfarer is typically considered the superior RV.

While the Winnebago View is lighter and allows you to carry more cargo during your adventures, Tiffin’s customer service and build quality are of the highest quality.

One advantage of the Winnebago View over the Tiffin Wayfarer is the price. All the View floor plans start at less than $200,000. On the other hand, you won’t find any of the Wayfarer models under $200,000. However, many owners find the increased price for the Tiffin to be worth it.

Travel in Luxury With a Tiffin Wayfarer

If you’re looking for a luxurious experience while traveling, the Tiffin Wayfarer is about as good as it gets in a Class C motorhome. They’re high-quality rigs with solid construction and customer service with a positive reputation.

Just because you’re RVing doesn’t mean you have to rough it and the Tiffin Wayfarer is an example of just that.

Whether you’re looking to go on a cross-country road trip or park in a local campground, the Tiffin Wayfarer is one RV worth considering.
