Accessing Thousand Trails Orlando

With a location just 10 minutes from Walt Disney World and 20 minutes from Universal Orlando Resort, this Thousand Trails sits on prime real estate in the midst of lake country.  The landscape is scattered with waterways and surrounded by lush green vegetation, attracting all manner of wildlife.  Just across the street from the campground lies the Hilochee Wildlife Management Area. The resort is open year-round and is easily accessible from Florida Highway 27. It is conveniently lying 30 minutes southwest of Orlando’s metropolitan area and 45 minutes west of Kissimmee.

• Lake Louisa State Park – enjoy kayaking and wildlife encounters at this location. It’s just 7 miles north of the campground on Highway 27
• Gatorland – visit up close and personal with alligators, tortoises, wild cats, and snakes or take to the skies on a zipline.  This venue is 25 miles northeast of Thousand Trails Orlando.

Thousand Trails Membership

In conclusion, if Thousand Trails Orlando sounds like the perfect home base for your Florida visit, you may want to look into a Thousand Trails membership.  They take many forms, but the easiest way to become involved with their resorts is to purchase a “Camping Pass” to a particular region of the country.  Under the TT program, the US is split into 5 regions. The cost of one regional pass is around $600 annually.  These regions have between 20 and 28 campgrounds scattered throughout. They can be utilized during the year for up to 14 days at a time, free of charge.  After that two week time period is up, you must move out of the Thousand Trails system for seven days. After that, you are free to go to another resort within your regional pass for up to 14 days.

If you are a fast traveler, you can avoid the 7 day “lay off” by staying no longer than 4 days at each campground. Move from resort to resort with your region without any time out of the system.

And if one region isn’t enough adventure for you, grab an extra pass for a separate zone at a substantially discounted rate.  If you’re really ambitious, why not get all five-zone camp passes and work your way through the Northwest, Southwest, Midwest, Southeast, and Northeast in one year?  You may find that Thousand Trails becomes a very inexpensive way to see the country!
