Who Owns Rockwood RV Campers?

Forest River RV owns Rockwood campers. It is a division of Forest River, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway company.

Peter Liegl founded Forest River RV in 1996, and it is a leader in RV manufacturing. The company has approximately 46 brands under its name, including Rockwood.

About Forest River

Forest River is one of the largest RV manufacturers in North America. They produce class A and C motorhomes, fifth wheels, travel trailers, toy haulers, campers, and destination trailers.

You can find their products at various RV dealerships across the U.S. and Canada. The high access to their products gives you a greater chance of finding a Forest River product service facility nearby.

Forest River manufactures its RVs in Elkhart, Indiana. They put a strong emphasis on the quality and dependability of their products.

They put random units from their brands through rigorous testing at their pre-delivery inspection facility. Then they check for issues related to electrical, plumbing, propane systems, cosmetics, overall functionality, and codes and standards.

The Rockwood Camper Line Up

The Rockwood lineup has various features and amenities. Let’s look at four types of RVs they design and manufacture.

Fifth Wheels

Rockwood produces two lines of fifth wheels, the Signature and Ultra Lite. The Signature fifth wheels have three floorplans and more luxury amenities than the Ultra Lite series.

You’ll find king-size beds, electric auto-leveling systems, central vacuum, and residential-style furnishings and finishes in the Signature.

In addition, each floor plan has an expansive front bedroom and a full-size dry bathroom. The kitchens are also spacious, with kitchen islands and ample counter space and storage.

The Ultra Lite fifth wheels have eleven floorplans, including three with bunk rooms. The series has more layouts and tends to be a better option for families.

They’re also an excellent option for someone not wanting to upgrade trucks, as you can pull them with a 1/2-ton or 3/4-ton truck, depending on the model.

Travel Trailers

Rockwood campers have four series of travel trailers. They produce the Signature, Ultra Lite, Mini Lite, and Geo Pro. Each carries the Rockwood quality construction and features, but they all have different aspects that stand out.

The Signature and Ultra Lite travel trailers are the most spacious and best for traveling with over four people or a family.

The Signature has seven floorplans, and Ultra Lite has nine. Each has bunkhouse options. They complement their fifth wheel counterparts regarding construction and features.

The Mini Lite travel trailers are lightweight compared to the Signature and Ultra Lite. You can tow them with an SUV.

There are eleven floorplans, including one bunkhouse option. However, we would consider these couple or solo travel trailers.

The Geo Pro is one of the most popular Rockwood campers. It comes in nine floorplans, including one toy hauler. The Geo Pro is a highly functional, small travel trailer or toy hauler with modern interiors. It comes with solar, heated water tanks, and more.

Pro Tip: As stated above, you can tow some of these trailers with an SUV, but What Is The Best SUV for Towing? You’ve Got Options!

Hybrid Campers

Rockwood’s Roo Expandable Hybrid Campers are a popular choice for those who camp seasonally or infrequently. They’re an excellent value and often have more interior space than a pop-up camper.

The hybrids are regular travel trailers vertically, but they have soft-sided pop-outs to create more sleeping areas.

The Roo comes in five floorplans, and they all have full-size dry bathrooms.

Pop Up Campers

Rockwood’s pop-up campers include hard-sided pop-ups, the extreme sports package, and the tent model.

Pop-up campers are a budget-friendly option for those just starting camping or who occasionally camp. They are easy to tow and a great starter camper.

Rockwood offers various floorplans with hard-sided or soft-sided pop-ups. They even provide a few that come with toilets.

Is Rockwood Signature Campers a Good Brand?

Rockwood campers’ Signature model is a dependable brand. It has an enclosed underbelly with radiant foil insulation and front cap, and slide-out floors.

It also has thermostatically-controlled heated holding tanks. The RVs frame is fully aluminum with R-7 insulation on the walls, R-12 on the floor, and R-14 on the roof.

In addition, it has a one-piece seamless roofing membrane. This means there are fewer seams that could lead to leaks.

Is Flagstaff the Same As Rockwood?

Forest River’s Rockwood and Flagstaff lineups are essentially the same. They vary in specific material colors but are primarily identical sister brands.

The manufacturer builds them in the same factory with the same parts, materials, and floorplans. It is a common occurrence in large RV companies to have two similar brands.

A Variety of Options Are Available From Rockwood Campers

There are many options from Rockwood campers. You can easily find a floor plan that suits your travel style. We like that the brand has options for more than one budget.

First-time RVers might even consider starting with a Rockwood pop-up. In the future, you may want to upgrade one of their travel trailers or fifth wheels. Which model would you prefer?
