The History Of nuCamp

Joe Mullet started nuCamp in 2004, but the company started as Pleasant Valley Teardrop Trailers. Established in Ohio Amish country, Pleasant Valley was focused on providing quality hand-built teardrop campers and excellent customer service after the sale. In the first year, Mullet and his team sold 50 campers. However, the recession of 2008 caused Pleasant Valley Teardrop Trailers to close its doors.

Thankfully, Mullet was able to start again and reassemble his team. The company acquired the rights to build the TAB teardrop and created its own TAG teardrop. The team also ventured into the truck camper industry with the Cirrus line. It was now that Mullet knew it was time to rebrand. As a nod to the community’s German heritage, they chose the name nuCamp. Since then, nuCamp has become the world’s largest manufacturer of teardrop campers.

What Types of Campers Does nuCamp Make?

While nuCamp is known for its teardrop campers, the company also makes truck campers and one travel trailer. The TAB and TAG lines offer five teardrop camper models. The Cirrus line has three truck campers that suit owners of ½-ton, ¾-ton, and 1-ton trucks.

In addition, the Barefoot Camper is a retro-chic fiberglass trailer. The exterior sea glass color and smooth egg-shaped shell appeal to travelers looking for a vintage look with all the necessary amenities. So, the owners will enjoy a wet bath, kitchen, and dining area that converts to a sleeping space.

What’s the Difference Between the nuCamp TAB Models?

All nuCamp TAB models have a dinette and wet bath. However, neither of the TAG units do. The TAG teardrop campers have an interior sleeping space with storage and a rear outside kitchen in the hatch.

Additionally, the TAB CS-S also has a rear outside kitchen in the hatch, making it the most like the TAG models. The TAB 320 S and TAB 400 have inside kitchens. Moreover, the TAB 400, it’s the largest nuCamp teardrop trailer, with a spacious wet bath across from the kitchen, a hidden bunk above the dinette, and a queen-sized sleeping area in the rear.
