About Moss Glen Falls
Moss Glen Falls lies within the C.C. Putnam State Forest near Stowe, Vt. This 125-foot-tall waterfall is the typical “horsetail” waterfall with several cascades down a steep gorge wall. The final fall spreads out into a beautiful fan, with several great viewing points for the upper and lower portion.
The waterfall, fed by the Moss Glen Brook, is a short hike from Brownsville Road coming from Stowe. The hiking trail is five miles long, but Moss Glen Falls lies just a quarter mile from the trailhead.
Then you can decide if you’d like to continue by following a snowmobile trail to the top for a view of the Worcester Mountain Range.
How Do You Get to Moss Glen Falls?
From Stowe, Vt., travel northeast for 4.3 miles on Highway 100, also known as Brownsville Road, then turn into Moss Glen Falls. You will arrive at the trailhead at a pull-off on the east side.
Head out of the parking area on the Moss Glen Falls hiking trail for approximately half a mile until you reach the small gorge. From there, you can hike to the right along the creek to the waterfall’s base or to the left, which is a steeper climb to an overview of the falls.
