Jayco is one of the most well-known brands in the RV industry. When you walk around a campground, you likely see one of their trailers. Today, we’ll look at the best-selling travel trailer for the last 15 years: the Jayco Jay Flight.

With about two dozen floorplans, this line has so much variety that there’s a unit for almost anyone. Let’s dive in!

Who Is Jayco?

Jayco has been manufacturing RVs since 1968. Lloyd Bontrager started the company, focusing on pop-up campers. In 1971, Jayco entered the travel trailer market and, a year later, produced its first fifth wheel. In the late-1970s, Jayco started manufacturing Class C motorhomes.

Over the years, Jayco has become one of the industry leaders. In 2005, the company opened another manufacturing plant in Twin Falls, Idaho, expanding its home base from Middlebury, Indiana, and growing the western market. In 2008, Jacyo acquired Entregra and launched diesel-pushers. Then, seven years later, Jayco launched its own gas-powered Class A motorhome division.

In 2011, Jayco was the world’s largest privately-held RV manufacturer. Then, in 2016, Thor Industries acquired the brand. Finally, in 2020, the Jayco Jay Flight was named the number-one-selling travel trailer for 15 years.

What Types of RVs Does Jayco Manufacture?

Jayco spans the entire RV spectrum. Although the company started manufacturing pop-up campers, Jayco now offers travel trailers, fifth wheels, toy haulers, Class A motorhomes, Class B vans, and Class C motorhomes.

The majority of Jayco RVs are made in Middlebury, Indiana. But the second facility in Twin Falls, Idaho, also manufactures the Jay Flight travel trailers for western dealers.

What Is the Jayco Jay Flight?

The Jayco Jay Flight has been the number one selling travel trailer for 15 years and counting for a reason. It’s affordable, with an MSRP starting at just over $32,000. It’s also family-friendly, with several bunk bed models.

Couples and solo travelers also appreciate the variety of floorplans that offer rear kitchens, Murphy beds, garages, and spacious living areas.

The Jayco Jay Flight line sleeps up to ten people. These units are also lightweight, with the heaviest trailer weighing under 9,000 pounds. This means owners don’t have to invest in a heavy-duty truck to tow the camper. The lightest units can even be towed with an SUV. The lengths ranged from 25 feet 8 inches to just under 38 feet.

The 3 New 2024 Jayco Jay Flight Floorplans

In 2024, Jayco will release three new floorplans in the Jay Flight lineup. Each is very different and will appeal to diverse RVers. Let’s take a look!

Jayco Jay Flight 225MLS

The Jayco Jay Flight 225MLS is ideal for solo travelers or couples. The front bedroom has a queen bed with overhead storage. The center of the unit is wide open with a comfortable lounge space with theater seating opposite a booth dinette. A large window by the dinette provides excellent views of the campsite.

The kitchen stretches from the slide-out next to the theater seating to the rear wall. It has ample room to entertain guests, and the large pantry will hold plenty of food items and kitchen gadgets. A corner bathroom finishes out this unique floorplan.

Jayco Jay Flight 235MBH

The 2024 Jayco Jay Flight 235MBH is a fantastic option for families who want a shorter travel trailer but still desire both a dinette and a sofa.

Oftentimes, smaller trailers will have one or the other, but the 235MBH has a large U-shaped dinette in a slide-out across from the kitchen and a jack-knife sofa in the front of the unit. A Murphy bed extends over the sofa to provide a sleeping space for parents.

The double bunks sit in the rear corner next to the bathroom, making middle-of-the-night potty trips convenient for kids. The corner pantry and overhead storage provide ample room for food items and kitchen gadgets for a family weekend camping trip.

Jayco Jay Flight 380DQS

Finally, the Jayco Jay Flight 380DQS is unique among all travel trailer floorplans. You won’t find many two-bedroom campers, but at 36 feet 11 inches, this unit has plenty of length to accommodate two comfortable bedrooms.

The front bedroom is smaller and has overhead storage compartments. The rear bedroom features a slide-out and plenty of storage with a dresser, wardrobe, and overhead cabinets.

A pass-through bathroom separates the rear bedroom from the living area, where you’ll find a U-shaped dinette and jack-knife sofa in a large slide-out.

There’s a corner entertainment center and kitchen with a pantry and overhead storage cabinets to complete this layout. The GVWR of the Jayco Jay Flight 380DQS is just under 10,000 pounds.

Other Unique Models

With so many floorplans in the Jayco Jay Flight lineup, we chose just a few to highlight. These three units provide very different layouts to suit travelers with outdoor toys like ATVs or golf carts, RVers who want a large kitchen for entertaining, and campers who prefer a fifth-wheel feel but in a travel trailer package.

Jayco Jay Flight 236TH

The Jayco Jay Flight 236TH is the smallest toy hauler in this lineup. The 255TH and 265TH are other larger toy hauler options. This trailer features a 7-foot ramp leading into almost six feet of cargo space. You’ll find convertible sofas on both sides of a removable table, a large pantry, and a full kitchen.

A storage closet sits next to the entry door, which is convenient for storing coats, kitchen gadgets, or flashlights. A bathroom and front bedroom with a queen bed and overhead storage finish out this Jayco Jay Flight floorplan.

This toy hauler measures 28 feet 4 inches and has a GVWR of 7,500 pounds. It also has 2,440 pounds of cargo carrying capacity.

Jayco Jay Flight 280RKS

If you want an open entertaining space, the Jayco Jay Flight 280RKS is an excellent choice. This unit measures just under 34 feet long and has a GVWR of 8,150 pounds. The cargo carrying capacity is 1,625 pounds.

The floorplan features a rear U-shaped kitchen with lots of countertop space for meal prep. There are two reclining chairs, which are unique for a travel trailer.

But in addition to these two seats is a jack-knife sofa and booth dinette for plenty of seating for guests. An entertainment center completes the living space. The bathroom and front bedroom are standard.

Keep in Mind: Is the #1 selling travel trailer even the best? Let’s dive in and see!

Jayco Jay Flight 334RTS

We want to highlight the Jayco Jay Flight 334RTS because it looks and feels more like a fifth wheel than a travel trailer. It has a large rear living area with opposing slides.

There’s a booth dinette and theatre seating along the campside wall, a long jack-knife sofa against the rear wall, and an entertainment center with an electric fireplace, pantry, refrigerator, microwave, and oven along the driver’s wall.

A kitchen island gives more countertop space, and a hutch with overhead cabinets provides an ideal place for a coffee bar and extra storage.

There’s a large wardrobe in the bathroom for linens, and the front bedroom has a huge wardrobe and a place for washer and dryer hookups. There’s another dresser at the foot of the bed. This Jayco Jay Flight 334RTS is one of the largest travel trailers in this line at 37 feet 10 inches. Its GVWR is 10,250 pounds.

Even More Floorplans to Suit Your Needs

The availability of floorplans in the Jayco Jay Flight line varies based on your location in the United States. For example, when you select “Florida” as your location, you’ll see 23 floorplans. But if you select “Arizona,” you’ll only see 12 options. This is because the facility in Idaho Falls produces the Jayco Jay Flights for the western region.

There are about eight floorplans that feature bunk beds. Another three trailers have entire rear bunkrooms with three or four sleeping spots and additional storage for kids. The Jayco Jay Flight 212QB is the shortest at 25 feet 8 inches, and there are three units that are just under 38 feet long.

There are several travel trailers with no slides if you prefer to avoid potential mechanical problems and the regular maintenance these features require.

Keep in Mind: Your Kids Will Love These RVs with Bunk Beds!

Is a Jayco Jay Flight Travel Trailer Right for You?

The Jayco Jay Flight lineup has something for everyone. The 294QBS and 324BDS can sleep up to ten and feature large rear bunkhouses. Additionally, the 265RLS has individual reclining chairs like the 280RKS.

The 340RLK has a fifth wheel feel like the 334RTS but just flips the entertainment center and theater seating. Whatever you’re looking for, this travel trailer line delivers!

  1. We bought a 2023 Jayco camper we paid $80,000. Our oven will not heat. at the right temperature, but they will not fix it because they say there’s nothing wrong with it. Our shower wall is pulling away from what it supposed to be glued to Big gap in the corner of the shower in the kitchen behind the stove. The wall is coming apart there too. We’ve had lots of other problems that we can’t seem to get fixed. I would never recommend anyone buy a Jayco. And if you think I’m not telling the truth, ask many others who have bought one
