Who owns Fleetwood RV? This company has been in business for over 50 years, and making motorhomes is their sole focus. Is Fleetwood Motorhomes Still in Business?
In 1950, Fleetwood RV was born. However, it began as Coach Specialties Company under the ownership of John Crean. He focused on manufacturing window blinds for travel trailers.
In 1953, Crean renamed his business Fleetwood Trailer Company and then renamed it again in 1957 to the present day Fleetwood Enterprises, Inc. By 1989, Fleetwood RV sales reached $1 billion.
However, the 21st Century wasn’t as successful. By 2007, Fleetwood RV had to close several plants across the country. Then in 2009, it declared bankruptcy.
Different assets and divisions were purchased by various businesses, one of which was American Industrial Partners (AIP). One year later, AIP combined various divisions to become Allied Specialty Vehicles.
Who Owns Fleetwood RV?
Fleetwood RV became part of American Industrial Partners in 2009, which later became Allied Specialty Vehicles. From 2010 to 2015, AIP acquired several other brands like Road Rescue from Spartan Motors and Thor Industries’ bus business.
In 2015, Allied Specialty Vehicles changed its name to the REV Group.

After 2015 when Allied Specialty Vehicles became REV Group, the company continued to acquire brands in addition to Fleetwood RV and expand its manufacturing empire. The REV Group added fire truck manufacturer Kovatch Mobile Equipment Corp in 2016. Then they bought Renegade RV in 2017, Lance Camper in 2018, and Spartan ER in 2020.
The company focuses on manufacturing ambulances, buses, firetrucks, RVs, and other specialty vehicles, bringing in over $1 billion annually. The REV Group has 18 manufacturing facilities, 29 vehicle brands, and 7,400 employees across the United States.
Where Are Fleetwood RVs Made?
Fleetwood RVs are manufactured in Decatur, Indiana, about two hours southeast of Elkhart, the RV Capital of the World. Decatur is located just east of the Ohio border.

The Fleetwood RV Lineup
Unlike many RV brands that produce all types of RVs, Fleetwood focuses on manufacturing motorhomes only. You won’t find any towables in the lineup.
The company makes four diesel Class As, four gas Class As, and the IROK Class B camper van. Let’s look into each of them.

Diesel Class A RVs
The Discovery, Discovery LXE Frontier and Pace Arrow are all Clas A motorhomes with diesel engines. The Discovery comes in four different floorplans, all featuring a king bed. Three of the four plans have two bathrooms, and one features bunk beds with barn doors.
The Discovery LXE is bigger and offers more amenities than the Discovery. An improved technology package includes a Wi-Fi Extender Pro Pack with LTE, a cell booster, and a 300W solar panel.
The 44B floorplan even has a bunkroom in the rear of the coach. Upgraded features like porcelain tile flooring and three 15K BTU roof air conditioners make the Discovery LXE one of the most luxurious Fleetwood RV motorhomes.
The Frontier is the latest diesel Class A from Fleetwood RV. Recently, it was named 2022 Top RV Debut by RV Business and 2022 Best New Model by RVPro. It features a legless electric patio awning, an Aqua-hot 250D compact heating unit, and a Freightliner chassis. The center fireplace in the living space creates a cozy lounge area to relax with friends.
The smallest of the diesel Class As, the Pace Arrow has two floorplans that feature ample wardrobe space, a queen bed, a 72” booth dinette, and a convection microwave. Even though it’s smaller, the Pace Arrow still has full pass-through storage and a 10,000 lb rated tow hitch bar.
Gas Class A RVs
The Southwind, Bounder, Fortis, and Flair make up the Fleetwood RV gas Class A lineup. The 37’ Southwind model is the longest gas Class A and has a new power-platform Ford chassis.
The Southwind has three floorplans, including one with bunk beds, and features a king bed, fireplace, residential refrigerator, and convection microwave in every model. Two of the three layouts have two bathrooms.
After 36 years, Fleetwood RV claims the Bounder is the “The Greatest (selling RV) of All Time.” It also has the new power-platform Ford chassis and four floorplans, two of which feature two bathrooms. The 36F has bunk beds, while the 33C and 35K have an 82” jackknife sleeper sofa.
The Fortis has abundant storage and towing capacity. Another distinction between the Fortis and the other Fleetwood gas Class A motorhomes is the Hide-a-Loft electric drop-down bed over the cab. The 36DB model features bunk beds with barn doors, while the 33HB features two bathrooms.
Finally, the Flair offers the most options with five floorplans. Every model has a king bed and Hide-a-Loft electric drop-down bed, but the floor plans are very different. The 29M unit features an L-shaped dinette, and the 32S unit features two bathrooms. The 34J features bunk beds with barn doors, and the 35R features theater seating and a sofa in the living space.

IROK Class B RV
The IROK Class B operates on a gas engine. It features a rooftop solar panel and ECO charging system. The kitchen has everything you need to make yourself at home. But the distinguishing feature of the IROK Class B is the full bathroom, equipped with a large shower, sink, and porcelain toilet.
Overhead cabinets provide ample storage, including an additional overhead cabinet above the cab. The rear lounge is spacious during the day and easily converts to a sleeping area at night.
What Is Fleetwood’s Most Luxurious Motorhome?
The Discovery LXE is Fleetwood RV’s most luxurious motorhome. The Vacu-Bond floors, walls, and ceilings mean excellent insulation and airtight construction.
The Discovery LXE models have an exclusive Freedom Bridge with Freightliner custom chassis and a Cummins ISL9 380HP or 450HP engine. The five floorplans range from 36’ 9” to 44’ in length and provide options for all types of travelers.
About the Discovery LXE
The 36HQ, the smallest unit, features a stackable washer and dryer space in the rear, a kitchen island, opposing 60” sofas, and a dishwasher. The 40G model has a U-shaped dinette and bunk beds to provide ample room for traveling families. This unit also has a washer and dryer space in the rear and a dishwasher in the kitchen.
The 40M and 44S floorplans feature double vanities in the rear, a separate half bath in the middle, and a free-standing dinette with a credenza. Lastly, the 44B model has a rear bunkroom with storage. It also features a half bath in the middle and opposing sofas in the front.
Even though you have various floorplans, all of the Discovery LXE models include 10,000 to 15,000 lbs of towing capacity, the Firefly Multiplex System, and a rear heat pump.
Additionally, they come with DriveTech with OptiView, an 8kW Onan QD generator with automatic start, and a French door refrigerator with in-door ice and water. These features make the Discover LXE line the most luxurious of the Fleetwood RV motorhomes.
