We’ve identified five of the most dog-friendly campgrounds in the U.S. While this isn’t an exhaustive list, these locations get high marks from dog owners and RVers. They go above and beyond to make sure your pets enjoy their stay just as much as the humans.
1. Four Paws Kingdom and Dog Retreat

About: Four Paws Kingdom and Dog Retreat is a campground specifically designed for canines and humans. From an agility dog park to a grooming station, your dog will be in the lap of luxury here. They will be pampered, all with the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
RV sites are full hookup, and some have a fenced-in yard for your dog. This campground has a bathhouse, camp store, pavilion, dog parks, an agility park, a pond for dog swims, and a doggie bathhouse.
Best features for your dog: The dog parks at Four Paws Kingdom and Dog Retreat include a small dog playground, a big yard, and a private escape for those not ready to interact with other dogs. Additionally, the grooming station allows you to give your dog a spa day without the mess in your RV.
2. Lake George RV Park

About: Lake George RV Park is a fun dog-friendly camping experience. There are indoor and outdoor heated pools, hot tubs, a splash pad with a water slide, and multiple other activities for the pet owners. Meanwhile, the dogs get to enjoy Charlie’s Bark Park, a two-acre off-leash recreation area with a pavilion.
The campground has 400 RV sites with full hookups. There is also cable, Wi-Fi, a picnic table, and a fire ring at the sites. The campground has bathhouses, showers, biking trails, and recreation throughout the park.
Best features for your dog: The large bark park has designated areas for large and small dogs, a restroom for humans, and comfortable seating. It also has an indoor dog wash station, pet treat vending machines, a dog spray fountain, agility events, and a large synthetic turf play area.
3. Rovers RV Park

About: Rovers RV Park in Oregon makes for a beautiful setting for you and your dog. Wetlands surround the park, and you can kayak and fish in it. Also, about 3.3 miles away, you’ll find the Pacific Ocean and beaches for dog walks.
The park has 22 full hookup sites and 12 electric and water-only, grassy sites for smaller RVs. The campground also has bathrooms, showers, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, and a communal fire pit.
Best features for your dog: Rovers RV Park offers very dog-friendly camping. They have a large off-leash area for dogs near the river. Your dog can also join your fishing.
4. Riverside Campground and Cabins
Address: 47020 CA-1, Big Sur, CA 93920
About: Riverside Campground and Cabins is surrounded by breathtaking redwood trees. It’s located on a river and offers beach access and hiking trails only 10 minutes away from the Pacific Ocean.
Campsites have electricity and water with picnic tables and fire pits. The campground has showers, restrooms, and laundry facilities. In addition, there are cabins available for rent.
Best features for your dog: The campground is dog-friendly. They allow dogs in their rental cabins and rooms, which is a rare find.
5. KOA (Kampgrounds of America)

About: KOA offers dog-friendly camping at the majority of its locations. Since they exist all over the country, you could plan a road trip around staying at KOA locations to ensure your dog will be welcomed. Since each KOA has different owners, be sure to do your research and know their pet policies before finalizing your reservations.
You’ll find full hookup campsites at most KOAs as well as rental cabins. Some campgrounds also offer bathhouses and showers, while others have pools and other activities.
Best features for your dog: KOA’s KampK9 provides fenced-in dog parks. They include cleanup stations, freshwater, and several have separate areas for large and small dogs. In addition, there’s plenty of seating provided for the pet parents.
