10 Campgrounds With Lakes You Need to Visit
With so many campgrounds with lakes across the country, it was tough to narrow it to only ten. So don’t be disappointed if your favorite campground didn’t make the list. Let’s dive in!
1. Wahweap RV & Campground, Arizona
Address: 100 Lake Shore Dr, Page, AZ 86040
Located only a quarter-mile from the shoreline of Lake Powell, Wahweap RV & Campground is home to 250+ campsites.
Whether you need one of the 139 full hook-up sites or can fit in one of the 112 self-contained RV/tent sites, you’ll love this campground. The sites are flat, level, and paved; it doesn’t get much better than that!
The campground is near the Wahweap Marina, which has plenty of options for powerboats, water toys, and practically any other activity you’d want to do at the lake.
Sites have a fire ring and picnic table and are pet-friendly. You’ll love the views of the sunsets over Lake Powell any time of year.
Know Before You Go: Wahweap RV & Campground is a year-round campground. However, the office operates on limited hours from December 1 through February 28. When making a reservation, you’re not reserving a specific campsite.
2. Lake Mead RV Village At Boulder Beach, Nevada
Address: 268 Lakeshore Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005
Lake Mead RV Village at Boulder Beach has 115 sites that make it easy to get away from it all and relax. When you’re not enjoying aquatic activities at Lake Mead, you can play Bocce ball and horseshoes or have a BBQ at one of the four picnic areas. Many of the sites provide stunning views of Lake Mead.
The campground location makes it easy to visit Hoover Dam, Valley of Fire State Park, and Boulder City. Hikers love the proximity to several fantastic hiking trails, including the 4-mile Train Tunnel Trail.
Know Before You Go: Full-time travelers should know that the campground doesn’t allow campers to receive mail or packages at the park. Check out the campground map before arriving, as navigating to the campground can be confusing.
3. Warren Dunes State Park, Michigan
Address: 12032 Red Arrow Hwy, Sawyer, MI 49125
Warren Dunes State Park sits on three miles of Lake Michigan shoreline. There are six miles of trails, a 260-foot dune, and two campgrounds.
The dunes provide a great spot to enjoy the view of the lake and do some birdwatching. Many refer to the park as the unofficial gateway to Michigan’s state park system from the west.
The two campgrounds in Warren Dunes State Park offer 219 campsites. Mt. Randall is a modern campground that provides both water and electric connections, while Hildebrandt offers only electric connections. The two campgrounds share a dump station at the park’s entrance.
Know Before You Go: Warren Dunes State Park campgrounds with a lake are open seasonally. You can make reservations from April 4 through October 23. Non-Michigan residents must pay a $9 daily access fee or purchase a $31 Michigan State Park Recreation Passport.

4. Polson Motorcoach Resort, Montana
Address: 200 Irvine Flats Rd, Polson, MT 59860
Polson Motorcoach Resort is one of the best motorcoach parks in the country and the best in Montana. Not only do you get to experience the gorgeous views of Flathead Lake, but the Mission Mountains are in the distance.
The park offers one of the best settings for a campground, and you’re only a short drive to Glacier National Park, one of the most beautiful parks managed by NPS.
No matter how big or small your rig, you’ll have everything you need right at your campsite. The campground is professionally manicured and maintained to help enjoy the views. You can live a luxurious life while surrounded by Montana’s natural beauty.
Know Before You Go: This is a seasonal park due to Montana’s extreme winter conditions commonly experienced. Reservations are only available from April 15 through October 15 of each year.
Lastly, the park is for Class A motorcoaches only, and they must be more than 30 feet long.
5. Conesus Lake Campground, New York
Address: 5609 E Lake Rd, Conesus, NY 14435
Whether you’re in a luxurious RV or tent camping, Conesus Lake Campground has something for you. It’s the place to stay, especially if you like water. You’ll find everything from water skiing, scuba diving, fishing, sailing, and relaxing by the lake.
The campground offers 150+ sites and has activities like a jump pad and gaga ball for families to enjoy. The campground provides every campsite type, from rustic to full hook-up sites.
Know Before You Go: Quiet hours don’t begin until 11 PM. If you enjoy hitting the sack before then, expect there to be some noise from other campers who are still enjoying themselves.
6. Sunset Bay RV Resort & Campground, Michigan
Address: 2701 Sunset Bay Beach Rd TWP, Allouez, MI 49805
Located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is Sunset Bay RV Resort & Campground. It sits directly on the shores of Lake Superior. Choose one of the 11 tent-only sites, 35 RV/tent sites, or even one of two cozy cabins.
The location provides a very remote feel but has everything you could ask for in a campground with a lake. Listen to the waves crash into the beach or see how high you can stack rocks on the shoreline.
It’s a great place to disconnect and relax by the largest lake in the United States.
Know Before You Go: Camping season lasts from mid-May to mid-October each year. The campground opened 11 new sites for the 2022 season!
7. Stillwater Campground, Colorado
Address: 8590 US Highway 34, Granby, CO 80446
Stillwater Campground offers 129 sites at 8,300 feet elevation on Lake Granby. There are 21 electric sites, but all sites come with a picnic table, fire ring, and tent pad. Their locations can accommodate RVs 25 to 40 feet long.
Those looking to enjoy Lake Granby will enjoy boating, sailing, swimming, and fishing. Anglers often catch kokanee salmon and a variety of trout. Numerous hiking and horseback riding trails are available near the campground.
Know Before You Go: Stillwater Campground is in the midst of the Arapaho National Recreation Area, which requires a specific passport. Additionally, a recent mountain pine beetle infestation wiped out many trees, resulting in the campground having little to no shade.
The camping season is from May 13 to September 26. Bears frequent the area, and campers must practice safe camping practices to avoid attracting bears.

8. Lake Siskiyou Camp Resort, California
Address: 4239 W A Barr Rd, Mt Shasta, CA 96067
Located in Northern California on the southwest side of Lake Siskiyou is Lake Siskiyou Camp Resort. Not only do you have incredible views of the lake but also Mt. Shasta and Shasta Trinity National Forest.
You can have a quiet time fishing and relax by the lake. There are plenty of sites available in this massive campground that offers 350+ campsites.
The campground marina has everything you could need if you forgot something or need to restock your fishing gear. The Splash Zone and other beach area activities will be perfect for those looking to cool off in the lake during the summer months.
Know Before You Go: This popular seasonal campground with a lake is open from April through October. It fills up fast, so make your reservation!
9. Paugus Bay Campground, New Hampshire

The 173 campsites found at Paugus Bay Campground give you the opportunity to camp while surrounded by verdant trees. There are many sites right along Lake Winnipesaukee.
There are plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. Convenient trails to the lake make for a pleasant and leisurely stroll.
The staff goes out of their way to maintain a spotless park. They pick up trash daily to help avoid attracting animals to the campground and campsites.
Be sure to rent kayaks or paddleboards to spend some time on the water!
Know Before You Go: Paugus Bay Campground is a seasonal campground with a lake, with camping available from mid-May through mid-October each year.

10. Frontenac State Park Campground, Minnesota
Address: County 28 Blvd, Frontenac, MN 55026
Frontenac State Park Campground sits on Lake Pepin in Frontenac, Minnesota. There is a mixture of 58 electric and rustic campsites.
Rustic campsites are outside the campground loop, putting them closer to the bluffs and providing tremendous views of the lake. Several fantastic trail options in the campground combine for 13 miles of trails.
The campground looks to complete an overhaul of its main bathrooms, which they expect to open in May or June 2022. A seasonal dump station is available from April 15 through November 15.
Whether you’re looking for a relaxing weekend at the campsite or an exciting outdoor adventure, staying at this state park campground is an excellent choice.
Know Before You Go: The campground is open year-round despite its Minnesota location. If you’re visiting during the winter months, you should use self-registration. Note there is a 53 foot RV length limit, which they measure from the front of the tow vehicle to the rear of the RV.
