Camco is a familiar name in the RV industry when it comes to accessories. The Camco drinking water hose has standard three-quarter-inch connection points and comes in four-, 10-, 25-, or 35-foot versions. These hoses are 20% thicker than competing drinking water hoses and are free of BPA and lead.

Why Would You Need a Drinking Water Hose?

To utilize water capabilities while in your RV, you’ll need a water hose. If you’re planning to drink the water in your RV, you’ll want to ensure that the water hose you use is safe for drinking. While you could use the garden hose connected to your outdoor spigot for months or even years, it may not be safe. Standard garden hoses are made from materials that contain chemicals you shouldn’t ingest.

It doesn’t matter if you plan to connect to a water spigot or if you’ll be filling your freshwater tank. Either way, you’ll need a drinking water hose for your RV. The length will depend on where you plan to use your RV. The water source location will vary from campsite to campsite, so it’s often better to have too much water hose rather than not enough.

Our Favorite Features

The Camco drinking water hose has many features that make it a great drinking water hose. Let’s look at a few of our favorites!

Stainless Steel Fittings

The machine fittings and strain-relief ends are stainless steel and nickel-plated, creating added durability and longevity. These machined fittings also help prevent leaks, whether at the water source, hose extension connection, or when connecting to your RV. These fittings are sure to last longer than you’ll own the hose.

20% Thicker than Standard Hoses

While most standard drinking water hoses are three-quarter inches thick, the Camco drinking water hose is 20% thicker. The thicker walls create an anti-kink design which allows for optimal water flow and helps avoid tangles when storing. The thick material also aids in making this hose more durable and able to withstand the beating that the RVing lifestyle can put on equipment.

UV Stabilized for Longer Life

This Camco drinking water hose is created by adding a stabilizer to the resin mixture when being formed. This added stabilizer helps protect the finished hose from being damaged when exposed for an extended period to direct sunlight. The stabilizer absorbs UV rays and helps prevent degradation.

Cons

The Camco drinking water hose is excellent, but it’s not perfect. Despite having a 4.5-star rating, Amazon reviewers reported a plastic taste after extended periods of sun exposure. There are even some cases of discoloration from years of exposure to harmful UV rays.

Alternatives to the Camco Premium Drinking Water Hose

The Camco drinking water hose has some stiff competition from a couple of other hoses on the market. Let’s take a look at some alternatives.

NeverKink RV/Marine Hose

Teknor Apex 8602-50 NeverKink RV/Marine Hose - 5/8" x 50'
  • Constructed with NTS Reflex Mesh patented technology eliminates kinks, twists and tangles
  • Lead-free, complies with Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act for lead content

The NeverKink RV/Marine Hose is slightly more expensive than the Camco hose but equally safe for drinking. The NeverKink hose comes in 25- or 50-foot versions. No matter where you need your water hose to reach, you can achieve it easily. The Grip-Tite coupling creates not only an easy connection at the faucet but a leak-free one as well.

Valterra AquaFresh Drinking Water Hose

Valterra AquaFresh High Pressure Drinking Water Hose, Water Hose Hookup for RV - 1/2" x 50', White
  • RV DRINKING WATER HOSE: 50-foot high-pressure hose is engineered for 160 psi RV hookups
  • VERSATILE: Hi-Flow fittings fit all RVs, campers, trailers, and more

The Valterra AquaFresh Drinking Water Hose is another solid choice when it comes to the safety of your drinking water. The included hose gripper will make securing your hose to the spigot and RV easy and leak-free. A 50-foot section is rated to withstand water pressure up to 160 psi, which far exceeds the plumbing in your RV. When it comes to length to price ratio, the Valterra comes at a lower price but lacks UV stabilization.

The Camco drinking water hose is an excellent option for RVers looking to replace or buy a drinking water hose for their RV. While there are several other cheaper options, we think you’ll find this Camco hose will exceed your expectations. What do you look for in an RV drinking water hose?
