Who Is nuCamp?
In 2004, Joe Mullet began his journey manufacturing teardrop campers when he founded Pleasant Valley Teardrop Trailers. The company hand-built 50 campers that first year, focusing on quality and care. Even after the 2008 recession, Mullet and his team regained their footing.
During this season, they acquired the rights to build the TAB camper, started the TAG camper line, and entered the truck camper market with the Cirrus lineup. With these new changes, Pleasant Valley Teardrop Trailers rebranded and became nuCamp. The name was in honor of the German heritage of this Ohio community.
What Types of Campers Does nuCamp Make?
Currently, nuCamp is the largest manufacturer of teardrop campers in the world. Both the TAB and TAG lines offer compact spaces with everything a weekend traveler needs for an adventurous camping trip. The Cirrus truck camper line includes the 620, 820, and 920 models. Owners of half-ton trucks, ¾-ton trucks, and 1-ton trucks all have options in the Cirrus line.
nuCamp also makes the Barefoot camper. This unique trailer is a blast from the past with its egg-shaped fiberglass shell. It features a sea glass color exterior and a retro design. The Barefoot camper is 16 feet 7 inches long and has a wet bath, convertible dinette, and full kitchen.
What’s the Difference Between the nuCamp TAG And TAB Models?
The most significant difference between the TAG and TAB teardrop camper lines is the TAG and TAG XL feature an outside kitchen in the hatch. The TAG XL is the same as the TAG but slightly wider. It’s the same length at 13 feet 7 inches but one foot wider.
The TAB 320 S and TAB 400 feature an inside kitchen. The TAB CS-S has an outside kitchen in the hatch. So, it’s the most similar to the TAG line. However, all three TAB teardrop campers have a dinette and wet bath. The TAG campers don’t have either. They simply offer a place to sleep in the interior.
All About the nuCamp TAB 400
The nuCamp TAB 400 is the largest model in the nuCamp lineup. It’s the only option that can accommodate more than two people. But with a dry weight of 2,831 pounds, SUVs and light-duty trucks can still easily tow the nuCamp TAB 400. This makes this teardrop convenient for many weekend warriors who don’t want to invest in a different vehicle.

Features
One of the best features of the nuCamp TAB 400 is the hidden bunk. It sets up over the front dinette, which can convert into a bottom bunk space. Thus, there’s sleeping for two kids in the front and a dedicated 55-inch by 79-inch sleeping area for the adults in the rear.
There’s also a spacious wet bath, 4.6 cubic-foot refrigerator, stainless steel sink, and 2-burner stove for a comfortable weekend getaway. The nuCamp TAB 400 also features a stargazer window above bed.
This teardrop camper comes with a 100ah lithium battery and upgrades like a Nautilus water management system, central air conditioning, instant hot water system, and roof-mounted solar are available with the Convenience Package.
Layout
Up front, the nuCamp TAB 400 has an adjustable table with bench seating. This converts to a bottom bunk, and the hidden bunk sets up above the dinette area. A queen-sized rear bed is in the rear, while the wet bath is in the center of the unit across from the kitchen.
Who’s the nuCamp TAB 400 Good For?
Because of their size, the nuCamp teardrop campers aren’t for everyone. But the TAB 400 might be a good fit for weekend travelers with one or two children. This could be a family or grandparents who like to bring along their grandkids.
Solo travelers or couples would also enjoy the nuCamp TAB 400. When left as a dinette, the front space offers ample room for one or two people to lounge on rainy days.
