Not everyone needs a 40-foot fifth wheel or 35-foot motorhome to enjoy camping. Although those RVs are ideal for families or couples wanting luxury on the road, weekend warriors and outdoor enthusiasts who just need a place to sleep want smaller, lightweight trailers.

Today, we’re looking at the Winnebago Hike 100. Although it’s less than 16 feet long, these five models have a wet bath, kitchen, and sleeping space – everything you need and nothing you don’t! Let’s dive in!

Who Is Winnebago?

In 1958, Modernistic Industries launched in Forest City, Iowa, producing the 15-foot Aljo trailer weeks later. In 1960, Modernistic Industries was renamed Winnebago Industries. The company manufactured its first motorhome in 1967 and, in 1986, built its 200,000th unit. By 1998, Winnebago had produced its 300,000th unit; in 2004, the company surpassed $1 billion in annual sales for the first time.

Today, Winnebago Industries continues to produce its own line of RVs. But it has also acquired other companies in the last 15 years. In 2010, it purchased SunnyBrook RV; in 2016, it bought Grand Design RV; and in 2019, it acquired luxury motorhome manufacturer Newmar. Winnebago Industries also owns two marine brands: Chris-Craft and Barletta.

What Types Of RVs Does Winnebago Manufacture?

Modernistic Industries built travel trailers in 1958. Winnebago continues that focus today. There are six lines of towable trailers currently produced. But Winnebago has also added more than two dozen motorized RVs to its lineup.

Eight Class As, ten Class Bs, and seven Class Cs comprise Winnebago motorhome offerings. The company also manufactures two accessibility-enhanced options for travelers in wheelchairs.

About: For campers who prefer a larger sleeping area, the Winnebgao Hike 100 H1316FB features an east/west queen bed with a loft bed. The larger bed size makes the wardrobe slightly smaller than the H1315TB unit. But everything else is the same up front with the wet bath and galley kitchen.

There’s no rear bike door, but there is a rear outside kitchen with a portable Truma cooler. The other amenities, like the air conditioner and tank sizes, are the same as the Winnebago Hike 100 H1316TB model.

About: A Winnebago Hike 100 with another sleeping arrangement is the H1316MB, which provides a rear sofa and Murphy bed. The wardrobe is larger than the H1316FB and more like the H1316TB unit. The front wet bath and kitchen are the same.

There’s a folding table in front of the sofa, and the Murphy bed measures 54 inches by 74 inches for a comfortable sleeping space for two people. Two nightstands are on either side. The same features, like the furnace and tires, are included on the Winnebago Hike 100 H1316MB as the other trailers.

Winnebago Hike 100 H1316DB

Length: 15 feet 11 inches
Weight: 4,200 pounds
Sleeps: three
MSRP: $50,140

About: If you’d rather have an eating area than a sofa, the Winnebago Hike 100 H1316DB could be a good option. In the rear is a loft bed above a U-shaped dinette. The dinette measures 54 inches by 72 inches for ample space for three or four people. It converts to a large sleeping area at night.

The front wet bath, kitchen, and other amenities are the same in this model as in the others. However, like the Winnebago Hike 100 H1316FB, this model has an outside kitchen with a portable Truma cooler.

Winnebago Hike 100 H1316SB

Length: 15 feet 11 inches
Weight: 4,200 pounds
Sleeps: four
MSRP: $49,125

About: The last Winnebago Hike 100 option is the H1316SB. This model is similar to the H1316TB model, with the rear folding table and rollover sofa. However, the H1316SB has a second opposing rollover sofa instead of bunk beds.

Dual rear doors open for a huge 60-inch by 60-inch space that leads to the outdoors. Screens are provided. The Winnebago Hike 100 H1316SB sleeps four because of a drop-down bed, and the sofas convert to a second sleeping space. This unit features all of the other standard amenities as the other models.

Who Is the Winnebago Hike 100 Good For?

Due to the Winnebago Hike 100 line only offering sleeping for two to four people, we don’t suggest this line for families. Although, a family of three may be okay with the loft bed and U-shaped dinette of the H1316DB or the loft bed and queen bed of the H1316FB, we wouldn’t recommend more than three people. The interior is too small for cooking and lounging with more than two or three people.

But if you’re a solo traveler, a couple, or two friends who want to enjoy outdoor adventures, the Winnebago Hike 100 models are great options. They provide everything you need for a comfortable weekend camping trip. The bike door of the H1316TB allows campers to bring their outdoor gear.

The bunk beds also provide separate sleeping spaces for friends. The large rollover sofas and folding table of the H1316SB provide plenty of lounging space for friends, and the dual door opening can make you feel like you’re in a tent more than a trailer.
